A Guide to Forex Trading

There are a great number of people in the world that are interested in investing money in order to make attempt to make a tidy profit. There are many ways to invest and many ways to make profits by investing. One method that has been gaining in popularity is that of Forex trading. If you are unsure of what this is, let me explain. Forex stands for foreign exchange. Forex trading is defined as the simultaneous exchange of one country's currency for another country's currency. If you would like to learn more, please read on for some information about Forex trading.

Forex trading involves trading the world's most major currencies. Some of these are: the Dollar, Yen, British Pound, Swiss Franc, and the Euro. With Forex trading, you attempt to purchase a currency that is at a lower exchange rate and then exchange it for a currency with a higher exchange rate. The way the exchange rates of these types of currencies change is based on economic growth. An example: Sometimes the Dollar is worth more than the British Pound because the United States was in a period of economic growth while Britain was on the decline. This can be because the unemployment rate was declining in the United States, while unemployment is on the rise in Britain. Another example: the export rate is up in Asia so the Yen is worth more than the Swiss Franc where the export rate is down. Economic growth changes on a daily basis, so the value of these currencies can change daily. You need to learn to watch for these changes in order to make any money through Forex trading.

Forex Trading is much larger than that of all U.S. stock markets combined. In fact, the Forex Trading system makes around 1.9 trillion dollars each year. This is 30 times larger than the U.S. stock markets. Also, Forex trading is done throughout the entire world, so it is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a weeks, unlike the U.S. stock markets.

It is best that you get some training on Forex Trading before you attempt it. You can get forex training from several different places. The first place you can get it is online. There are many websites that offer free forex training that is both reliable and accurate. These websites often offer a free demo account to teach you how to trade without actually using any real money.

A second place to get Forex training is at your local college campus. Forex training courses at college are usually quite inexpensive and very thorough. The forex training courses offered should include hands on experience with trading, to help you get the edge. You can also get some books on forex training or research it at your local library. But the best place to get forex training is from someone who is already involved in forex trading. These individuals can provide you with more realistic information and give you different aspects of the forex trading game.

The forex training you get should begin with learning how the foreign trade market works. The trade market is always changing, so you need to understand it first. The second part should be about risk control. You never want to invest more than you can afford. With the right training should learn how to cut your losses and have less risks of failure. Lastly, your training should teach you how to open and manage a forex trading account. But this should be done with a demo account at first.

Now that you understand Forex trading a bit better, you may wish to get out there and start investing in it. There is a lot of money to be made, and a lot of money to be lost. Be careful and make sure you get the proper training before you attempt it. With the right frame of mind, you may be able to make a healthy sum of cash through the Forex trading!

Online Forex Trading Explained

To say that the great expansion of the internet has had a tremendous effect on the market would be the understatement of the century. Virtually all facets of the economy have been impacted by the internet and nowhere is this more apparent that in the forex trading market. In a way, the marriage between forex trading (the buying and selling of foreign currency for investment and profit) and the online realm is a perfect union. Keep in mind, the forex market is a virtual market that is open 24 hours a day so the ability to tap into the market 24 hours a day is an absolute necessity. This is where the internet comes into play in a big way.

The ability to trade currency on the internet has been greatly expanded by a number of online currency trading companies that have been set up to satisfy investor needs for reliable trading companies. These online trading services provide a safe and reliable method of transferring money online in order to make currency trades. After all, no one wants to deal with an entity that is unreliable particularly when financial matters are concerned. As such, online forex trading companies provide the necessary security to make such trades with confidence. As should be expected, these online forex trading services charge a fee for their use but the value that they offer more than makes up for the costs associated with their use.

Of course, secure online money transactions are only a small part of what online forex trading offers. In order to properly make a reliable transaction, one needs to be up to date on market prices. Now, to perform the necessary research on the multitude of market prices without a centralized database would be far too laborious to perform effectively. It would simply not be cost effective or even remotely practical. Online trading services handle all that legwork for you. They provide the subscriber with various market prices in real time in a user friendly database that enables one to make educated purchases with little hesitation. Now, some may hang on the words "little hesitation" as they wish to make trades without unnecessary delays the words "educated purchases" are the words that are the critically most important ones herein. This is not to say that the value of the immediate execution of trades is something to be downplayed, but it should not always be the item people hang on the most.

When you are provided with current, accurate and up to date market information and prices, you will be able to make decisions that are properly educated. This, of course, sets the stage for making trades where a certain level of risk is reduced. After all, it is more beneficial to make trades from a clearly knowledgeable position rather than one that is based to heavily in speculation based on older information. Online trading services reduce speculation as they provide current, up to date information. This is, of course, the basis of reliable trades and the greatest benefit of online trading services.

Forex may seem that it is less complicated since it is just one specific commodity (currencies); it still has it downside learning curve that everyone has to go through. With so many factors involved with forex, you can feel overwhelmed and become discouraged. Following the steps below will help guide you to learning to trade the forex market

Step 1. Doing your Research - Walking into any investment involving your money without you doing your own research on the subject matter would not be very smart. Researching the advantages and disadvantages of the matter you want to invest in is highly recommended. You should at least have an idea of what you are investing your money in and how the concept of that investment works.

Step 2. Study Currencies - Many people have very little knowledge about the euro, dollar, and pound. It is very common also for investors to try to trade without knowing the concept and histories of the currencies. Getting to know the fundamentals behind the currencies is a huge advantage in trading the forex market.

Step 3. Knowing your Odds - Learning what your odds are with failure and success give you an idea of what type investment you are undergoing. You will need to be able to analyze margins of profit compared to your losses, be able to see potential trades, and understand trends in the market.

Step 4. - Forex Vocabulary - Learning to trade forex takes a little time. Like other professions there is a forex jargon that is used to communicate. Understanding the different terms in the forex market can help you with your learning curve because it can cut down on the misunderstandings you could face.

Step 5. - Study the Market Movement - Understanding how the market works and moves gives the trader a feel that could be used in implementing decisions. Understanding the brains behind the driver gives an advantage on what can happen next. It also will lay confidence in the trader, taking the emotional impact in trading.

Step 6. - Trading Demo Accounts - Most brokers offer the trader software that allows an account to be opened with play money. This allows the trader to execute trades with ever risking his or her own money. This also allows you to gain valuable experience while never having to risk money as well. Once you have developed a keen understanding and confidence in your trading strategy, you can then move over to a real account where you use your own capital.

Step 7 - Manage your money - Always know before hand how much of your money you want to risk when executing trades. Having a realistic goal set for your trades will help you from blowing your account. It is easy for an individual to take on more risk than they can afford, causing them to do more damage to their account than planned.

Step 8. - Let it Roll - After getting through the essentials in learning to trade forex markets, it is then time to put what you learned into action. Start implementing your strategies that you tested on your demo account with a real account. The great thing is if things aren't working out you can always go back to the demo to see what was going wrong.

How is the Forex like the Stock Market ?

Before I compare the Forex with the US stock market, an important point needs to be made. The Forex serves a critical role in the world economy. As trade among international countries increases because of advances in technology and communication, the Forex is there to play a vital function. The Forex has to exist for a simple reason. Let's say Japan wants to sell some products to the United States. We allow these products into our country and the producers of the product get paid. Here is where the Forex comes into play. How much in Japanese Yen should they receive for their product? That depends on the value of the US Dollar compared to the Japanese Yen. When the dollar is weaker than the Yen, the producers will get the money they need to make up the difference. The producers want to be sure they are paid exactly what they are asking for their product. Wouldn't you? The Forex determines this price comparison. So you see, as long as there is international trade, there will be a Forex.

Since most people have a basic concept of the stock market and how it works, we'll use that knowledge to compare the two. The stock market exists so that a company can sell shares of its company (stock) for money. The company uses this sale to raise money to expand their business. These shares are then exchanged, bought and sold, by investors. In the stock market, the usual practice is to buy shares of stock at one price and at a latter time, sell them for a higher price. The goal of all investors is to buy low and sell high. The Forex is the same... buy low and sell high. This is essentially what all businesses do. They buy something as one price, and then they attempt to sell it at a higher price. When you trade the Forex, investors buy and sell currencies.

The Forex is traded a little different that the stock market. When you trade currencies, buy and sell, you trade them in pairs. Because you have to trade one currency for another, the transactions always involve a "pair" of currencies; Japanese Yen and US Dollar or European Euro and US Dollar. The goal of a Forex trader is to buy the "pair" at one price and then try to sell it later at a higher price.

A stock market investor can not only buy a stock and sell it later at a higher price, she can sell stock and buy is later at a lower price. Just think opposite. You will make a profit if you can sell stock and buy it back at a later time if the stock price goes down. This is called shorting stocks. Most investors don't short stock as there are many rules that limit short selling to the market professionals.

Forex short selling does not impose the limitations that are on stocks. Investors can more easily short currencies and make a profit if the currencies do as expected, do down.

The final trade in stocks is with options. You buy an option on a stock to either go up in price or down. If you bought the option that goes up in price when the stock goes up, you've made money. You can do the same for an option that wants the stock to go down. You can also buy options for the Forex currencies exactly like the stock market. The Forex also has what's called Single Payment Options Trading (SPOT). These are not available for the stock market. They are fairly complicated to understand, so do some research if you're interested.

In summary, stocks can be bought and sold. Currencies on the Forex can be bought and sold. You can buy stocks and profit; you can sell stocks and profit. Same on the Forex. Lastly, you can purchase options on stocks to go either up or down. You can do the same with currencies on the Forex.

8 Basic Tips on Choosing the Best Forex Broker

There are some basic notices that you should consider when you want choosing online forex broker.

#1- Spread Amount

The spread, which is calculated in pips, is the difference between how much you can buy or sell a currency at a specific point in time.

Forex currencies are not traded through a central exchange market, so the spread can be different depending on the forex broker you use. Some online forex brokers have variable spread; some of them have two spread amounts that depend to day and night.

Some of them their spread depends to the position of market. When market is quiet the spread is small and when market is busy the spread is high. I prefer forex brokers that have fixed spread, because over the long term fixed can be safer.

#2- Execution

- How fast is the broker's order execution?

- Do they offer automatic execution?

- How much can you trade before having to request a quote?

- Do they trade against their clients?

The best way to find out is to open a demo account and give them a test drive.

#3- Leverage Options

Leverage is expressed as a ratio between the total capital that is available to be traded and your actual capital. For example, when you have a ratio of 100:1, your forex broker will lend you $100 for every $1 of actual capital you have. Leverage is a necessity in forex trading because the price deviations in the currencies are set at fractions of a cent.

Before choosing an online forex broker notice that what is their leverage. Many brokerages offer a flexible margin that allows you to choose the leverage that's right for you.

#4- Account Types

Notice the forex broker you choose has mini account or not. Mini account is designed for those new to online currency trading and those with limited investment capital. There is a smaller deposit required to start trade of just $300 or less.

#5- Trading Platform

Good trading software will show live prices that you can actually trade at, not just indicative quotes. It will offer Limit and Stop orders, and ideally will let you attach these to your entry order. One-Cancels-Other orders are another useful feature - they mean you can set up your trade and then leave the software to get on with it.

#6- Dealing tools and value-added services

Find out online forex broker that offers the best resources and information to help you make the smartest trading decisions. A good company should offer real-time charts, technical analysis tools, real-time news and data, and software or website support. Be weary of any company that refuses to share information or trial versions before opening up an account. You will want to try out their system before you choose to invest money in it.

#7- Support

Forex is a 24 hour market, so your online forex broker should offer 24 hour support. You should also check if you can close positions over the phone - essential in case your PC or internet connection crash at a critical moment. You could contact to their Internet help desks to see how quickly they respond to enquiries.

#8- Get Referrals

Ask around and read forex forums to find out which forex brokers other people use and why they selected a specific broker.
